Special Exhibition 12 March – 27 September 2026
»Seen Through a Window …« Perspectives on the Neighborhood and the SA Prison – 1933 to the Present
What role did the neighborhood play during the Nazi terror of 1933? How did it shape the process of coming to terms with the past, and how does the local community engage today with commemorating the crimes?
The exhibition explores these questions on three levels: in the immediate surroundings of the building, on the grounds themselves, and in the neighborhood. It shows how local residents experienced the events and why the memorial site would not exist today without them. Focusing on the neighborhood opens up new perspectives on both past and present.
Developed, curated, and designed by students of the Public History Master’s program at Freie Universität Berlin.
Opening: 11 March, 6:00 p.m.
